There are many chiropractic techniques. Dr. Sara attended Palmer College of Chiropractic and learned different techniques. She uses the Gonstead method of adjusting, which is a hands-on technique. All adjustments focus on moving the bone from a posterior (misaligned backwards) to an anterior (forward) position, to not only take away twisting in the vertebrae but more importantly, to get the vertebrae back up onto the disc so that the disc can heal. Gonstead technique is a very specific approach to adjusting the spine. There are certain tables that a Gonstead doctor uses to provide the best adjustment for each patient.

Dr. Sara is certified in pediatrics and underwent extensive studies in pediatrics and pregnancy. She is also certified in the Webster Technique, which helps to get the uterus in optimal position, thus allowing the baby to be in a vertex (heads-down) position. Dr. Sara has tables that the pregnant patient is able to lay on without applying pressure to the mom’s pregnant belly. She also has pregnancy pillows that are used for the pregnant belly to make sure that no pressure is put onto the abdomen during the adjustment.

No two patients are adjusted exactly the same. There may be similar techniques applied to each patient, but every patient is analyzed by Dr. Sara at every visit to see exactly where that patient needs to be adjusted.

We do ask that patients change into a gown at each visit. We run a nervoscope down the patient’s spine every visit, which helps to find differences in skin temperature along the spine. Being able to use this instrument provides the doctor valuable information on where a patient potentially needs to be adjusted. With a patient in a gown, it makes running the instrument much easier. It is also important for the doctor to see changes in a patient’s skin.
